Can Your SkyVac Filter Breathe?

Publicado por Diana Alves en

Wondering why your vacuum isn't working like it used to? It might be time to replace your filter!

Taking care of your filter is essential to keep your vacuum in top condition. The filter grabs those stray dust particles, preventing them from causing trouble for the motors. If your filter gets clogged or wet, it hampers proper airflow, making your vacuum put in extra effort and reducing its suction power. Also, keep an eye out for a filter that's broken or old, as dirt and grit can easily get into the system.

Cleaning the Basket Area Is Key

The basket area is another spot where debris tends to accumulate, potentially hindering your system's airflow. Here’s how to keep it clean:

  1. Take It Apart: Gently disconnect the basket area, being careful with the float valve inside to avoid any damage.

  2. Get It Clean: With the basket and float valve removed, clear out any debris to ensure optimal airflow.

  3. Put It Back Right: When reassembling, ensure the white, heat-resistant side of the float valve is facing up. Everything should fit back tightly into place.

  1. Use a Bristled Brush: Remove excess dirt from the sides of the filter using a soft bristled brush.

  2. Hose it Down: If the filter is really dirty, use a standard hose with a spray attachment to rinse it.

  3. Brush Around the Air Intake: Remember to brush around the area where the vacuum draws in air.

  4. Check for Damage: Regularly check your filter for any signs of damage, and replace it every 4-6 months.

  5. Start Clean and Dry: Always start with a filter that's CLEAN and completely DRY for each job.

Properly Positioning Your SkyVac

With clean filters, the next step is to ensure your SkyVac is correctly positioned for maximum efficiency. The three motors should be aligned with the handle, guiding incoming debris around the deflector plate and away from the filter.

  • Storage Matters: When you're not using your skyVac, store it in a clean and dry place to prevent unnecessary wear and tear.

  • Inspect Regularly: Before each use, give your vacuum a quick look-over. Check for any loose parts, damaged hoses, or other issues that might affect its performance.

By following these tips, you'll not only maintain your filters in top-notch condition but also extend the life and efficiency of your skyVac filter.
